As a fashion design student I look for inspiration in many mediums. Art, photography, music, and poetry have all played important roles in my designing and work. Recently, I stumbled upon two prolific ladies who's music and poetry have sparked my own creative energy.

| Millions of Santas |
[Dec. 24th, 2009|04:22 pm] |
Merry Christmas everyone :)

This year's card. Brought to you by my mother's collection of Santas (you can see a very, VERY small sampling of her grand collection here), and Millions of Cats - Wanda Gág in 1928 (Great children's book, one of my favs)
Anyone new to my list, this is a tradition I've been doing for a few years now. I draw up a card, mail out a handful of them to family and friends. 2008 2007 2006 2005 2004 |

| Bringing in the holidays with more FFXIV and PC talk |
[Dec. 24th, 2009|03:17 pm] |
The Official FFXIV site updated again with new story details, character creation info, a new background track, and a host of awesome screens. Dang. Just Dang. SE is hitting this one out of the park thus far. They know how to prep the hype machine, because I am hyped. Looking at some of these screens though, I now officially question my PCs ability to handle this as well as I'd like it to.
PC-wise, I think my sole weak link is now my CPU (Athlon X2 6400+). Unfortunately, that's literally the fastest CPU available for the old AMD AM2 chipset...so if I want to upgrade, I'm going to have to rebuild the foundation now.
Currently in the hunt for a good CPU + MoBo combo. A lot of the deals I'm seeing out there on NewEgg or TD are for less than desirable manufacturers (lolBiostar). There are some good ASUS deals, but they're complimented with Intel CPUs. Now may be the time to move to an i5/i7, as even the newer AMD Phenom II CPUs get pwned by Intel i7s.
Graphics wise, I haven't yet regretted bumping up to the Radeon HD 4870 X2 earlier this year. Though, it may be expeditious to let this dog lie and go ground up on a whole new PC like I did back in '06. If I do make the move, I have some eVGA credit I could use to snag one of the newer nVidia cards. We'll have to see. My roomy got a job that starts sometime next year, so I'll finally have some expendable income again.
Well, happy hunting to me... and happy holidays to all of you.
Sincurly yours, djplaeskool. |

| Key-Hole Eyes |
[Dec. 24th, 2009|12:06 pm] |
A genuine medical phenomena that can affect one or both eyes, often creating the illusion of cat points.
The creator of Gumby, had a daughter with the condition who was teased to the point of trauma. What a pity that our culture doesn't revere what is different rather than try to destroy it. However, here is a small collection of images, in an attempt to celebrate; nothing has been altered.

| Merry Christmas |
[Dec. 23rd, 2009|02:48 pm] |
I have dozens of old Christmas cards that I inherited with my house but I think this one is my favourite. I love how simple it is and the words are so lovely. I much prefer the style of old christmas cards - they have a certain charm about them that never fails to appeal to me. Merry Christmas everyone xx

[Dec. 23rd, 2009|05:38 am] |
Everyone I've met who is unsuitable for adult relationships has not graduated from high school type dating. Going on actual dates with different people before settling in with anyone, rather than just sticking to one person at a time, is critical. Understanding gender roles and not being developmentally held back are important too.
Women who have nothing to do with their lives have a tendency to turn into shit and do crazy things. That's why housewives with empty nests are out.
I wouldn't mind dropping out of school and living on welfare with some FFXI-crazed mithra, doing dynamis 12 times a week on 6 different characters. Unfortunately, both ivy league talented and dumpy hoodrats become too stupid and unattractive when they go full out on the FFXI. Too stupid and crappy even for an unemployed high school dropout! My dreams are shattered.
Well I did know an unemployed dropout who spent all day on the internet but was still able to mooch living space off friends and have sex with semi-dumb animu con chicks. Maybe my dream isn't so far away! It's all up to me to make things work out the way I want. |

I've lurked here for aaaaages, and ended up saying screw it and did pink. I did it once a while ago with pink food colouring for the lols, and then dyed my white hair red last week. It turned pink and made me really happy. I was wondering if anyone knew where to buy pink dye in Australia? I know it's available online, but does anyone know where any stores supply it? | Ultimate edition on sale. |
[Dec. 23rd, 2009|12:05 am] |
You can get the Final Fantasy Online Ultimate collection on Steam (steampowered.com) for $11.
That's everything, including the three add-on scenarios (which by themselves are currently like $10 each iirc)
Also it's steam so that means no more having to track down your cd/dvd to install it. On the other hand, Final Fantasy is a BIG game (~10 GB) on windows, so installation could take a while depending on the connection speed you have. On the gripping hand, some people can't stand Steam, as it has some DRM and stuff, and relies on the Valve servers to enable your logins. (I know mmo games you can generally bypass steam once the game's installed, but not sure about FFXI).
I actually know about 4 ppl interested in joining me and my buddy Gel, but I'm on Odin, where none may trespass. (they burned out on Aion already. that took all of what, 2 months?) |

It's raining, it's cold.
 | I'm so busy lately. I told you this would happen. I've been working every day since ... I don't know when. Even Sundays. I'm tired and exhausted. I wish I had some time for myself. It doesn't feels like Christmas at all (yet again).
With 2 teachers leaving at the end of this month, another teacher being fired and yet another one in the hospital things are EXTREMELY busy! The few hours I'm home I have to do things I couldn't do on Sunday or days off as I have no days off lately (laundry, dishes etc.). And January will be just as horrible. We're supposed to look for a new teacher again, but this time we really don't have any free time at work, so nobody can do it. It's a vicious circle.
Dear Santa, please give me more time!!!! And also time that I actually can enjoy! Thank you. *sigh* |
I'll try to post one more time before I FINALLY can leave for my short winter vacation, but with things as they are right now, I never know when I'll be able to post again. Also, it seems that lately people aren't really interested in my rare entries so much anymore. I might neglect my English LJ eventually and only post in my Japanese one. Or neglect both if I continue to be "time-less".

I hope at least you guys will have Happy Holidays and a nice CHRISTMAS! |

| Brazilian Pink Blowout |
[Dec. 22nd, 2009|04:05 pm] |
Hey All, so I have lil orphan Annie on Crack hair. It is just unruly as all get out, I have to blowdry and fat iron to make it look cute, and Im just tired of it.
So my mom got a brazilian blowout today- the keratin one, with no chemicals... OMG. Its beautiful.
So, Im taking the plunge. Im just worried about my pink. They say that its safe to do on colored hair, and I assume, thats chemically colored hair, but not my Special Effects Atomic Pink... So I have been advised to color it a day prior, and go darker than I normally would, as the shampooing process will take out some of the color. We shall see.
I will report back with pics once its done. Its pretty pricey, but Im thinking worth it, as it is supposed to approve the overall look of my hair, and *should* make the pink that gets left in last longer as it seals the cuticle.
So, I know we have a few stylists runnin around here, has anyone done this to themselves with pink hair, or a client? Just curious how it turned out. |
